Tomorrow, March 8th, marks International Women’s Day. While the entire month of March is recognized as Women’s History Month in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, International Women’s Day spreads far across the globe to recognize women’s rights, achievements, and goals. Founded in 1911 in Western Europe, this holiday is now officially recognized in countries such as Russia, China, and Uganda.
International Women’s Day exists not just to celebrate how far women have come, but just as importantly to remind the world how much there still is to go. The progress that women have made in the over 100 years since the beginning of this holiday is a remarkable feat; moving forward, many women celebrating today are focusing on national issues such as abortion rights, and international tragedies, like we see the women of Iran facing today.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is “innovation and technology for gender equality,” highlighting how essential it is for positions in technology to treat women fairly and equally in the workforce. There are also hundreds of millions fewer women who have internet access in the world than there are men with the opportunity.
At Eprine, we are taking International Women’s Day to recognize and thank all our female staff and clients. We wouldn’t be here without you!
